A team of students led by Pratt professor Rachel Beaudoin will develop generalizable models to quantify the greenhouse gas footprint of Durham organizations and to assess the impacts of decarbonization projects. Students will work with a dataset of Durham Public Schools’ historical energy and procurement data to develop a model that estimates Durham Public Schools’ emissions footprint. Students will then use the model to assist Durham Public Schools’ systemwide decarbonization planning by predicting how emissions would change as procurement and emissions factors are adjusted. This work will tie into a 2026-2027 Bass Connections project to build a Duke Student Environmental Consultancy.
Project Leads: Rachel Beaudoin & Sara Oliver
