A Textual Analysis of Agricultural Research

2025

A multidisciplinary team of students will work at the intersection of data science, policy, and food systems to analyze critical agricultural research shaping the science of food, agriculture, and the environment in the United States. Using natural language processing and machine learning, the team will explore federal grant records to uncover how agricultural research has addressed issues like food access, food systems innovations, and environmental stewardship over time. The team’s work will contribute to a grant proposal for the USDA and provide valuable tools for future researchers. This project is a unique opportunity to develop transferable data science skills while contributing to impactful research on pressing food system challenges.
