Dr. Guillermo Sapiro was awarded the Stansell Family Distinguished Research Award last Friday, April 21. The Distinguished Research Award is given each year to an outstanding researcher nominated by the department chairs and selected by a faculty committee. These faculty inspire their colleagues, serve others, contribute to the knowledge base and have a deep passion for their work. Dr. Sapiro’s work on autism screening software has recently been used to create a smart phone app that can assist with autism screening in children.

Dr. Sapiro talks about his work at the 2017 Duke Forward Campaign Celebration on April 22.
Dr. Sapiro’s research team was also one of six teams that spoke at the end of the Duke Forward Campaign on Saturday.
A video of Dr. Sapiro’s team’s work will be published later this year.
