Climate change impacts on farmed and wild oysters (Climate+)

2026

A team of students led by researchers in the Division of Marine Science and Conservation within the Nicholas School of the Environment will explore environmental data collected at North Carolina oyster farms in combination with oyster RNA sequencing data. This project will enhance environmental data and biological samples collected by a related Duke Bass Connections team by incorporating publicly available oceanographic and meteorological data into existing environmental datasets, using bioinformatic approaches to analyze RNA sequencing data, and integrating these datasets to examine the molecular responses of oysters over time and across different environmental conditions. Sponsored by Bass Connections.
