Yesterday, Duke University welcomed the Schmidt Science Fellows for an in-depth visit to its Data+ and Code+ programs, offering a firsthand look at how interdisciplinary STEM research is shaping real-world solutions.
During the visit, Fellows engaged with program directors and graduate student mentors to learn more about the structure and impact of these immersive summer experiences.
Designed to bring together students from diverse academic backgrounds, Data+ and Code+ emphasize collaboration across disciplines—equipping participants to tackle complex challenges using data science and computational approaches.
A highlight of the day was the opportunity for Fellows to connect directly with undergraduate project teams. Through conversations and project demonstrations, Fellows gained insight into the creative and analytical work students are undertaking this summer—from exploring data-driven questions to building innovative tools and applications.
