Dr. Astrid Giugni (English and Information Science + Studies) leads the Bass Connections project “Ethical Consumption before Capitalism,” which brings undergraduate STEM and Humanities students together to trace how the discourse of commercial consumption and the labor needed to sustain early modern markets are presented in the pamphlets, sermons, and meeting records produced for and responding to the English Trading Companies.
